About the Garden

Spencer’s Community Appearance Commission (CAC) is excited to announce it is building a community garden in Spencer! The success of a community garden depends on volunteers, donations, sponsors, and support from the community – in other words, we need your help!

The Spencer Community Garden is designed to be a self-sustaining partnership between residents, businesses, and the Town to promote garden education and food security. To achieve this, the Spencer CAC is partnering with Spencer Presbyterian Church to provide a space to grow fresh fruits, vegetables, and other plantings. Individual garden boxes will be available to anyone interested in gardening. Experience is not required!

This page is our ‘one-stop shop’ for all community garden resources. Use this page to find out how to participate, sign-up as a volunteer, submit a project, make a donation, review the garden master plan, access our publications, and more!

If you’re interested in volunteering, donating materials, making a restricted donation, or need more information, please email SpencerCommunityGarden@gmail.com.

How to Participate

  • Volunteer Sign-Up: If you’re interested in participating as a volunteer or as a garden manager, or if you just want to learn more about this project, please fill out our survey and we will add you to our mailing list. (Paper copies of this survey are also available in the front lobby of Town Hall, 460 South Salisbury Avenue).
  • Ways to Help: To help meet our goals, we need individuals, families, groups, organizations, or businesses willing to sponsor the building or garden boxes. Boxes are 8’ x 4’ x 2’ and costs vary due to material availability. We also need folks to help plant and maintain the boxes. Lastly, we need volunteers to weed and water!
  • Promote the Garden: Please help share this information! Flyers, brochures, and other forms for the community garden are available for pick-up in the front lobby of Town Hall, 460 South Salisbury Avenue. If you are part of a group that would like to distribute these publications, you can request the Town’s front desk staff to make color copies of any documents.
