Public Works Mechanic (Open until filled) #23-003

The Town of Spencer is seeking a qualified full-time mechanic to join our Public Works Department. The Town seeks a mechanic to provide preventive and routine maintenance and repair for all Town equipment and vehicles. This position also works with other Public Works crew members when needed on landscaping, tree removal, street sweeping, etc. Preferred candidates will have a GED or high school diploma with a minimum of three years of experience with vehicle equipment repair and maintenance. Code Enforcement Officer – (Open until filled) #23-005

The Town of Spencer is seeking qualified applicants to perform inspections and investigations to determine the presence of health hazards, nuisance violations, unsafe building conditions, and violations of any state, local, or federal health, building, or land use regulation, ordinance or statute. Duties include: property inspections/investigations of residential, commercial, and public facilities for violations of minimum housing, zoning, and Town code ordinances; preparing and issuing violation notices and civil citations; scheduling and conducting formal hearings; maintaining case files regarding inspections and violations; and preparing monthly reports. This position works closely with and aids the Police Department as well as the Planning Department. Requires graduation from high school or equivalent and at least six months to one year of advanced study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred candidates will have Extensive knowledge of local, state, and federal code enforcement laws, rules, regulations, principles, and practices and be able to apply this knowledge accordingly in diverse situations.
