Public Works Mechanic – (Open until filled) #23-003
The Town of Spencer is seeking a qualified full-time mechanic to join our Public Works Department. The Town seeks a mechanic to provide preventive and routine maintenance and repair for all Town equipment and vehicles. This position also works with other Public Works crew members when needed on landscaping, tree removal, street sweeping, etc. Preferred candidates will have a GED or high school diploma with a minimum of three years of experience with vehicle equipment repair and maintenance. Public Works Manager – (Open until filled) #24-003
The Town of Spencer seeks a qualified full-time manager to join our Public Works Department. The Manager performs technical and skilled work in Town building maintenance, ground maintenance, and repair and replacement. The Manager supervises work and provides direction to Public Works Crew members. An employee in this class coordinates the use of available equipment, materials, and staff for maximum effectiveness and economy and may respond to citizens’ requests and complaints. Responsibilities include supervising or operating equipment, including mowers, backhoes, loaders, flatbed trailers, garbage trucks, dump trucks, and other equipment and tools. The Manager ensures that safety policy and procedures are followed and PPE is appropriately used. The position requires completion of high school or equivalent and three (3) or more years of experience in public works activities, particularly the operation of heavy equipment and pesticide control. Fire Engineer – (Open until filled) #24-001
The Town of Spencer is seeking qualified applicants to join our team as full-time Fire Engineers. Performs responsible fire suppression and incident response activities including operating fire apparatus and participating in firefighting. Qualified candidates must be able to drive apparatus to the incident scene, appropriately place apparatus to establish water supply or other needs, assist with preparing fire reports, and have extensive knowledge of incident response, including response to hazardous materials spills, technical rescue, and emergency medical service calls. Police Officer/Police Corporal – Continuous Posting
The Town of Spencer is seeking qualified applicants to join our team as a Police Officer or a Police Corporal. Preferred candidates will have completed BLET and achieved a passing score on the State exam. Police Corporal candidates will also have four years of sworn experience in law enforcement, an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and an advanced law enforcement certification or equivalent training and experience are required. The selection process involves a written examination, polygraph, drug screen, psychological examination, extensive background check, and an oral review board.
