UPDATE JANUARY 27, 2026:
SPENCER — Public works crews spent today working in icy spots around town but were unable to begin waste collection due to the overall condition of the streets. They plan to begin collection tomorrow as soon as temperatures allow. Waste collection this week may extend into Saturday, and carts should be left out until collected.

UPDATE JANUARY 26, 2026:
Town Hall and the Spencer Public Library will open tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, at 12:30 PM.
Public works crews will begin ice removal around 10 AM, once temperatures allow, and begin waste collection tomorrow afternoon starting in the Monday zone. Waste collection this week may extend into Saturday, and carts should be left out until collected.

ORIGINAL TEXT FROM JANUARY 25, 2026:
Due to Winter Storm Fern and hazardous road conditions, Town Hall and the Spencer Public Library will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 26. As of this evening, waste collection will run one day behind schedule.
Public Safety Personnel will serve as usual.
A determination for Tuesday, January 27, will be made after 8 PM on Monday, January 26, and posted to our website, spencernc.gov, as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
