Fireworks, live music, and more planned for June 27 celebration
NC Transportation Museum and Town partner for Fireworks Over Historic Spencer Shops event
SPENCER – As part of our nation’s 250th anniversary celebration, festivities are planned in Spencer Town Park on Saturday, June 27, in conjunction with the North Carolina Transportation Museum’s annual Fireworks Over Historic Spencer Shops event. The NC Transportation Museum (NCTM), supported by several sponsors including the Town of Spencer, will open its grounds with a variety of free activities beginning at 6:00 p.m.
The free community event at NCTM culminates with Fireworks starting at 9:15 p.m., planned to be even more spectacular than usual, as part of the America 250 celebration in Rowan. Letters From Home, a heartwarming USO style duo with a sincere message of hope and patriotism, will perform 7:00 – 8:05 p.m. in the south end of the Back Shop. Find out more about the Firecracker Express train ride and other activities on NCTM grounds at: nctransportationmuseum.org/fireworks-over-historic-spencer-shops.
In Spencer Town Park, the Carlton Family Water Feature (splash pad) will operate and local musician Liam Pendergrass will perform after 8:00 p.m., leading up to the Fireworks.
The Town has encouraged local restaurants to be open throughout the evening, and several food trucks are planning to be on site at Town Park, including: The Old 97 Kettlecorn Co, Kona Ice of Salisbury, Stick it 2 You, and Denise’s Delectable Delites. Additional food trucks are planned at the NC Transportation Museum.
