Double the fun: concerts in Spencer Town Park Sept. 5 and 17
Fall event season kicks off with Motel Soap and Catawba College performances
SPENCER – Live music and family entertainment for all ages will fill Spencer on a regular basis over the coming months, as the Town prepares for its busy fall event season. While excitement builds throughout the fall with several events at the NC Transportation Museum and NC Museum of Dolls, Toys, and Miniatures, Town Park will also host multiple events each month, with some organized by the Town and many organized by local community organizations.
First up is the annual Labor Day street dance on Saturday, September 5, hosted by the Spencer Holiday Caravan Parade committee. Popular local band Motel Soap will be the featured performer from 6-9 p.m. During the evening, the committee will crown the next Miss Spencer Rowan/Miss Holiday Caravan Queen, celebrating the start of another exciting parade season. The 2026 Holiday Caravan parade is set for Wednesday, November 25. Find out more on the Spencer’s Holiday Caravan Facebook page.
Catawba College music students will be the featured performers at the next installment of Spencer’s Third Thursday music series on September 17. Town and College staff have collaborated for several months to launch the pilot series, including coordination with Jeff Little, Catawba’s Artist in Residence in popular music and music business, and Music Department chair. Catawba Music alumna Destiny Stone, who performed at the August concert created a spark that led to the collaboration. The Thursday evening concert will run 6-8 p.m., with two 45 minute sets.
The Third Thursday Music Series is a pilot community music program hosted by the Town in Spencer Town Park. Developed through partnerships with Duke Energy, Piedmont Natural Gas, and Catawba College, the series provides free live entertainment, encourages community gathering, and showcases local and regional talent.
Additionally, Spencer is participating in Rowan Creek Week (Sept. 12-19), with a storm drain marking event planned for Monday, September 14 at 9:30 a.m. Also on September 14, Three Rivers Land Trust will lead a guided nature walk in Stanback Forest at 5:30 p.m.
Events continue in October with National Night Out (Oct. 6), Race to the River (Oct. 17), and Trunk-or-Treat (Oct. 29), followed by November’s Holiday Caravan Parade and Winterfest December 4-6. Spencer’s fall event season will offer a steady lineup of opportunities to gather, celebrate, and enjoy the community.
