Join us for a day of exercise and fun to kick off Creek Week

Aug 16, 2023

SPENCER – Creek Week is a week-long celebration of local waters throughout North Carolina. This year, Rowan Creek Week will be September 16th-23rd. In conjunction with multiple organizations and local municipal departments, Creek Week offers recreational, educational, and volunteer opportunities to allow everyone to enjoy and contribute to healthy waters in our area.

The second annual Race to the River will take place on September 16th at 3:00 p.m., preceded by a Medicine Take-Back Event. Registration for the race will start at 1:30 p.m., and the second leg of Ride to the River will begin shortly before the Race to the River participants start the 5K race. The finish line will be at the newly completed Yadkin River Park Trailhead, with refreshments from local food trucks such as Kona Ice, New Sarum Brewing Company, Slice’s Diggity Dawgs, and Becky’s Annointed Hands. Entertainment will be provided by No. 9 Coal. For participants who wish to continue their exercise, Paddle the River will take place across the bridge at the York Hill Boat Access.
