The Town of Spencer is seeking a motivated self-starter with superior work ethic to join our team as a full-time crew member in our small but fast-paced town of under 4,000 residents. Duties include, but are not limited to, refuse/brush pick up on sanitation vehicle, filling potholes, cleaning/repairing culverts, mowing, cleaning parks, using power tools, assisting with equipment maintenance, other related duties as required. Requires graduation from high school or equivalent and a valid NC driver’s license. Some experience in street maintenance and/or the maintenance of buildings and grounds is desired. Fire Engineer – (Internal Posting until February 5, 2026) #26-01

The Town of Spencer is seeking qualified applicants to join our team as a full-time fire engineer. Performs responsible fire suppression and incident response activities including operating fire apparatus and participating in firefighting. Qualified candidates must be able to drive apparatus to the incident scene, appropriately place apparatus to establish water supply or other needs, assist with preparing fire reports, and have extensive knowledge of incident response, including response to hazardous materials spills, technical rescue, and emergency medical service calls. The Spencer Fire Department is a fast-paced and forward-looking organization made of well-trained and equipped members serving the Town and other communities in northern Rowan County. Police Officer – Continuous Posting

The Town of Spencer is seeking qualified applicants to join our team as a Police Officer. Preferred candidates will have completed BLET and achieved a passing score on the State exam. The selection process involves a written examination, polygraph, drug screen, psychological examination, extensive background check, and an oral review board.
