SPENCER – The Town of Spencer and other partners are excited to announce two events on May 1 returning after cancellations in 2020. The Town’s annual mulch give-away for Town residents and outdoor music at Library Park are planned for Saturday, May 1.

In the morning, Public Works staff will make free mulch available to Town residents. Pick up will be available at the Public Works Facility on Sowers Ferry Road, or for $10 it can be delivered to your property. First come, first-served. Call 704-633-2231#10 for more information.

Starting at 2:00 p.m. come to a safe, socially-distanced event at Library Park (300 Fourth Street), featuring live music, magic, food trucks, and more! The annual May event at the Library Park gazebo has become a tradition and in 2021 will “Celebrate the Soul of America!”

One Fret Over, young fiddle and guitar performers with a bluegrass flair, begin the event. Library tours will be available during an intermission at 3:00.

The music continues at 3:30 with Virtuous (Kia Rice) and Mia Mason who focus on jazz, R&B/Soul, Hip Hop, and contemporary gospel.

At 4:15 local magic and comedy artist Glen Yost will offer his signature storytelling performance “with a touch of southern charm.”

“Our goal is to bring the community together, celebrate local talent, and just have some fun,” said Mayor Jonathan Williams. “We look forward to celebrating in a safe way, with something for everyone.”

Popular local food trucks from The Hotdog Shack and Pelicans Snoballs of Salisbury will be on site for the public to enjoy throughout the event. Bring your own chairs or blanket. Call the Library at 704-636-9072 for more information.
