Plan to attend this historic finale for Rowan Creek Week 2024
SPENCER — Creek Week is a week-long celebration of local waters throughout North Carolina. This year, Rowan Creek Week will run from September 14th to 21st. In conjunction with multiple organizations and local municipal departments, Creek Week offers recreational, educational, and volunteer opportunities to allow everyone to enjoy and contribute to healthy waters in our area.
The third annual Race to the River will take place on September 21st at 9:00 a.m., preceded by a Medication Take-Back Event. Registration for the 5K race will start at 8:00 a.m. in front of Town Hall, and all proceeds will benefit Happy Roots, a partner of the Spencer Community Garden. At 10:00 a.m., there will also be a half-mile Fun Run Across the River at the Wilcox Bridge for those 12 years old and younger. Runners can also register ahead of time using the Salisbury Rowan Runners website or RunSignup.
The Pedal Factory will hold a Ride to the River with two options: a 35-mile bike ride and a 7-mile Fun Ride. Both start at 9:00 a.m. at Town Hall this year. Registration is also required for this event and is $10 for the 7-mile ride and $25 for the 35-mile ride. More information can be found on The Pedal Factory’s website by clicking the link above.
The finish line will be at the Yadkin River Park Trailhead, where patrons will be welcomed at 12:30 p.m. Between 1:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., there will be refreshments from local food trucks and entertainment on both the Rowan County and Davidson County sides of the Yadkin River Park for the 100th Anniversary of the Wilcox Bridge Celebration. For participants who wish to continue their exercise, Row Co River Adventures will start the sunset Paddle the River at 6:00 p.m. across the bridge at the York Hill Boat Access.
